NFC = tap to share. Premium feel, premium price. Worth it for high-end networking — not for everyone.
NFC (Near Field Communication) is the same wireless tech that makes Apple Pay and Google Pay work. An NFC business card is a small chip embedded in a physical card. The chip contains a URL — when someone taps their phone to your card, their phone reads the URL and opens it in the browser, which then shows your digital business card.
Functionally, NFC achieves the same thing as a QR code, just with a tap instead of a scan. The shared technology is the same after the initial handoff.

iPhone XS and newer (iOS 13+) read NFC automatically — just tap the back of the iPhone (near the camera) to the NFC card. iPhone X and older require manually opening the NFC reader from Control Center. Android phones with NFC enabled read NFC automatically.
Generally yes — the NFC chip is sealed in plastic or metal. The card itself can be wiped clean. Submersion isn't recommended for plastic cards; metal cards from Mobilo and similar premium brands handle water well.
If you wrote the NFC chip yourself with a URL, you can rewrite it via NFC Tools (iOS/Android) — no need to buy new cards. If you bought a branded card from Linq, Popl, Blinq, Mobilo, the URL points to their hosted service. Switching apps means either reprogramming the chip or buying new branded cards.
Theoretically yes — NFC can be cloned with the right equipment. But there's nothing valuable on a business card NFC chip — it's just a URL. Even if someone clones it, the worst case is they direct people to a fake page (which security-conscious recipients would notice). Not a meaningful threat vector for most users.
